Privacy Statement
School Directory Services LLC is committed to safeguarding users’ information collected for the sole purpose of compiling a secure online school directory. School Directory Services LLC will not make your information available outside your organization or share it with a third party.
What we do:
School Directory Services LLC offers a secure online directory subscription and integrated fundraising solution for schools. This service is offered under the name ClassList.Online.
How do we collect data:
ClassList.Online directories are compiled from data provided by a school or parent organization (PTA/PTO/PTSA). Additionally, directory administrators from the subscribing organization may enter information into the directory manually throughout the academic year and end-users may edit their own data.
What information do we collect:
We collect directory information, including name, grade, and teacher name (for students); name, email address, cell phone, home phone, address, and enrolled children’s names (for parents); name, email address, school phone number, grades taught, and room number (for school staff); and name, email address, website, business address, and business phone (for sponsors). All personal information collected is used to build an online directory or advertise the sponsor’s business. Users may limit the information included in the directory by logging in and editing their own information or by emailing a request to the organization’s directory administrators at <school>@classlistonline.com.
We also collect donation and fundraising information for the subscribing organization, including the name, date, payment amount, purpose, and PayPal transaction details of each payment. Personally identifiable information from payments is visible only to directory administrators and School Directory Services LLC employees. Credit card information is collected only by PayPal when the payment is submitted and is never stored in the online directory.
Who has access to this information:
School Directory Services LLC employees process and upload the directory data into online directories for our subscribers and archive the online directory at the end of the academic year. Parents, teachers, and staff from the subscribing school will have access to read all directory information and edit their own directory information. Sponsors will have access to edit their own sponsorship information. Directory administrators designated by the subscribing organization will have access to add, edit, or remove directory information and to view and export donation and fundraising information.
What we do with the information:
Information is collected and uploaded into a secure online directory for ease of access among members of the subscribing organization. Information is not used for marketing purposes nor shared with third parties. The online directory may contain links to Directory Sponsor websites. School Directory Services LLC is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites.
COPPA and FERPA compliance:
COPPA stands for the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and imposes certain restrictions on websites that are directed to children and collect information from children. ClassList.Online requires an adult email address to log in to the directory and does not allow user self-registration with the exception of Sponsor accounts which do not have access to directory information. We do not direct our content to children and we do not allow child members.

FERPA stands for the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act and is a law that protects the privacy of student education records. Directory information may be released without consent under FERPA guidelines:
Schools may disclose, without consent, “directory” information such as a student’s name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, honors and awards, and dates of attendance. However, schools must tell parents and eligible students about directory information and allow parents and eligible students a reasonable amount of time to request that the school not disclose directory information about them. Schools must notify parents and eligible students annually of their rights under FERPA. The actual means of notification (special letter, inclusion in a PTA bulletin, student handbook, or newspaper article) is left to the discretion of each school.

We recommend that each subscribing organization provide notice of FERPA rights to all member families at the beginning of the school year and remove any families who wish to be excluded from the data submitted for upload. Directory administrators can remove any information at the request of the family at any time during the subscription year and members can log in and remove or hide their own contact information (cell phone, home phone, address, and email).
